Elite Volleyball Camp at Kean University
Girls Elite Skills Camp – July 28-31
This camp is for girls with varsity or club volleyball experience at 15u or higher. The camp will take place in Kean’s beautiful Harwood Arena. This camp is designed to be an intense volleyball training camp for players who are familiar with basic concepts and skills. Campers will enjoy 10 sessions over four days, where they will work in groups appropriate to their skill level and experience to improve their serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking and defense, under the instruction of the Kean coaches and players, as well as guest coaches. All campers will receive a t-shirt for their participation.
Camp Staff
Camp Director Don Perkins came from Mississippi State in 2009 to take the reins of the men’s and women’s programs at Kean University. In 2012 Don was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year for leading Kean to a Conference championship and the NCAA tournament. Last fall the Kean women’s team had their best season in a generation, going 28-11 and making it to post-season, finishing in the ECAC semi-finals. This will be the fourth year of camp at Kean, after previously directing the Mississippi State Volleyball Camps. , Don has worked dozens of college, club, and private camps throughout the country, including the USA High Performance Camps.
Micah Acoba the head coach at Division I St. Francis College of New York will be back for his 4th year with us. Micah is a Hawaii native who played outside hitter and setter for Harvard, and then after completing law school at Cornell, played semi-professional beach volleyball. Over his career, Micah has coached at Cornell, Tufts, Baruch, and John Jay, before coming to St. Francis. In Micah’s first season in Brooklyn he led the team to their best record in a generation.
In addition to Don and Micah, the camp staff will feature several current and former members of Kean’s men’s and women’s volleyball programs, as well as one of Kean’s certified athletic trainers who will be on-site 24 hours a day throughout the camp.
Registration Types
Residential Campers will stay together in one of Kean’s newly renovated residence halls and enjoy buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner in our dining hall. There is “camp store” each night in the dorm where the campers can purchase snacks and volleyball goods.
Commuter Campers, are to be dropped off to Harwood Arena each morning at 8:30, and be picked up between 8:45 and 9pm. Commuters will be provided with buffet lunch and dinner daily.
Camp Registration Rates - After July 22nd-Walk-up rate= $375. *Walk Up registration is pending available space in the camp, and are not guaranteed a camp shirt.
