We learn and Have Fun!
Includes skilled instruction, fun and competitive drills/games and a group picture. This is a session for competitive kids who are an intermediate/advanced level of play. They will learn many new skills from our great coaches and get to do some match play with kids of similar skill-level. We like to emphasize sportsmanship and make sure that your kids have fun. Hope to see you and your kids this fall!
Time: 2:00 - 3:30 PM (Saturdays)
Location: La Cueva Tennis Courts
Camp Dates: September 9th, 16th, 30th, October 7th, 21st, 28th, November 4th & 18th
Dick Johnson is the head coach of the La Cueva High School Boys team where they have won the state title 14 out of the last 17 years. His 28 year coaching record is 343-51. He has been named the SWPTA SW Coach of the Year six times and SWPTA Pro of the Year twice. In 2008 he was inducted into the USTA Southwest Section Hall of Fame. In 2016 Coach Johnson was named the National High School Coach of the Year by the United States Professional Tennis Association.
The La Cueva Junior Tennis Camps, for kids ages 4-16, features a tennis program that, for the past 20 years, has inspired and taught kids the game of tennis in a fun challenging environment.
Dick Johnson and his personally trained coaches love kids and this shows at every camp. Each one has fun and rewarding drills, games and an emphasis on footwork.
The drills are chosen by ability and Coach Johnson is a "stickler" for proper grips and strike execution. Over 3,000 youngsters have been a part of Coach Johnson's programs at La Cueva and the Albuquerque Academy over the past 20 years.
He currently serves as the Northern New Mexico/USPTA Division Coordinatorand is the three-time past president of the NNMTA and is the past president of the SWPTA.
